Art and Architecture - Muqarnas, a decorative element of traditional Islamic and Persian architecture. The earliest examples of muqarnas discovered to date are from Nishapur, Iran, and date from the ninth or tenth century,but they also appear to have developed independently in central North Africa around the same time.
